"Self" articles

Bejamin Frankin was a man that believed highly in being organized and having a plan. He also believes in finding the mistakes within ourselves and fixing them. I am also the same way and lately I have been having a hard time doing so and it is driving me nuts. It is hard to stay organized when you have so much going on which is currently what is going on with me so my life is now choas. Just like Franklin I like to keep a to do list of everything I need to do that way I wont forget anything and it will keep me on task and organized. Being in college has definitely made my life chaotic which often stresses me out since I am a person that likes to be organized. In reading Juahn's article I learned that everyone develops a strong conservatism which helps us avoid making the same mistakes that we have made in the past. Without this things could get very chaotic because we would be making the same mistakes that we have made in the past and never learn from them.

Night

In the beginning of Night Eliezer's belief and love for God is unconditional, as the book goes on and as his experiences in the Holocaust continue his beliefs are shaken up. In The Book of Job, in the beginning Job's belief and love for God is also strong but as the bad things are happening to him his beliefs are also shaken up. Both Eliezer and Job went through struggles and suffered and as those things happen their belief in God decreased because they did not understand why he would do such things to them.

Professor Denis lecture

After the lecture from Professor Denis I was shocked to know what happened. I thought the most interesting and disturbing thing was how they hung the bodies on Christmas eve. It was extremely sad to hear how they got treated and what went on. I couldn't even imagine having going through that. After hearing the lecture is it alot easier to try to get into and understand what they are going through in "Night".

Second Half of Job

In comparative terms, what are the strengths and weakness of the portrayal of God and his relationship to human beings?

In the Book of Job God portrayed strengths and weaknesses. One weakness is that he went too far to prove his point, Job did nothing wrong and was a very trustful follower and ended up being punished. A strength is Gods relationship with people in the Book of Job. He helps those who know his Catholic teachings.

illustrations of The Book of Job

In the lecture on Friday Professor Kather talked about the illustrations in "The Book of Job" and encouraged us to think outside the box. Professor Kather went into detail on each plate that went along with the book so we could get a better understanding of what was going on. After the lecture I had a better understand of the book.
